What happened
in 2023

In its second edition, Pixel brought together 60+ participants, including teams, mentors, and experienced jury members specializing in UX/UI Design, Product Management, Business Analysis, and digital transformation.

12 teams, split between remote and on-site, engaged in a 24-hour challenge. Their task? To craft innovative, inclusive solutions using generative AI, focusing on enhancing accessibility for underrepresented social groups.

The event garnered support from the European Commission, Cargus, and Women in Tech Romania, all aiming to enhance their community services.

The European Commission challenged participants to create innovative digital solutions that tackle web accessibility, information reliability, multilingualism, and tailored content to foster a safe, inclusive digital era.

Cargus aimed to expand services while embracing inclusivity and customer-centric values, focusing on adapting features for the visually impaired, addressing the needs of illiterate individuals, aiding immigrants, and simplifying services for the digitally hesitant.

Five winning teams were awarded over 10,000 euros. Notably, the “Chase the Status” team designed an adaptive technology for package delivery, empowering the underprivileged and elderly with user-friendly AI capabilities using generative AI, focusing on enhancing accessibility for underrepresented social groups.

Sometimes words are not enough, so what better way to describe our past event than with photos?

But what do the participants think about the event?

The Pixel Hackathon was the coolest hackathon I’ve ever participated in. It was an innovative way to put into practice the Product Management, Business, and UX skills that I had. I am extremely happy that I discovered this event and that, even though my team and I had a long, hard-working day full of challenges, we managed to have fun together as well.

The Pixel adventure was a transformative experience. Witnessing the fusion of creativity and 24-hour adrenaline fueling real-time innovation in addressing key digital challenges like inclusion and misinformation was nothing short of amazing. The event’s emphasis on empowering diverse users, complying with accessibility standards, and nurturing ideas with real development potential was especially outstanding. This hackathon is a must-attend for anyone eager to engage in impactful technological progress.

A great Pixel Hackthon experience and an awesome team. Glad we were able to coordinate so well. There were many challenges we overcame. Next year, maybe even 1st place, why not?
